Stage 2: Fps Drops on "high end" pc

#1

I’m having a frequent fps drops while playing Evolve.
(I have read about sharders issue however and that the problem should fix itself however it didnt happen.)
I have stable 60 fps on all graphics setting even very high however every like 30 seconds i get a drop to 10-30 fps making the game uncomfortable to play.

We have a different processor, but your build is nearly identical to mine and I haven’t had an issues so far.

Have you tried to verify the game cache integrity and make sure all drivers were up to date?

@ArPharazon is this an engine issue?

#3

Yes i have done that. I have also defragmantated my disc

#4

Ok, just making sure to cover all bases.

#5

I totally would have said it’s the missing shaders. But if it shows no improvement after a few matches played, maybe not then.

Can you shut down the game, monitor your CPU usage with Task Manager or Process Explorer, see if there’s any recurring CPU or IO hit that’s periodic like what you described?

#6

I’ve downloaded Process Explorer. I’ve watched the graphs durning surfing internet and there werent any drops.
Do you think this could be a hardware problem? I bought this computer like 2 months ago.

#7

I hesitate to blame your hardware when we know so little.

You could leave Process Monitor’s System Information graphs open, and see if you see anything spike terribly while the slowdown happens:

#8

These are my Graphs:

#9

It’s maxed out right at the end there, was that during an FPS drop?

#10

“however every like 30 seconds i get a drop to 10-30 fps” Thats actually a self explaining thing. Its called overheating/throtteling hardware.

Happens quite often if you buy lowtier motherboards in combination with a energy/heat blaster like the AMD FX series and then just put the base stock cooler on it.

But even if you get that stuff working properly the AMD FX 8350 is more a low tier processor for alot of games. When i had the FX 8350 i also had some low framerates (NOT framedrops) during heavy fights on maps like fusion plant etc, so frames went from like a 70-80 MAX to a low end of like 44 on base clock.

i wonder if you are even able to run your GPU on a 100% usage all the time with that processor, especially because directx performance on AMD is alot worse than Nvidia.

#11

Yes it is durning FPS drop
