I feel I should have phrased it better. Minecraft is boring for non-gamers. I even went through a period where I spent hours upon hours building shit, too. Back in high school my friends and I rigged up a local server so that like 8 of us could play at a time in Engineering classes when we weren't doing anything (most of the time). And we had a hell of a lot of fun.
The problem is that we play games regularly, while Tiger's mom doesn't (based on the info he gave out), and certainly doesn't like first-person. Minecraft is a gamer's game, for the most part. It doesn't give you anything and not knowing what you're doing is a pretty awful experience.
Most of all - there's little reward. People who like games enjoy just playing it, which s why it's fun to build a whole city. People who don't play games (based on the reaction of every non-gamer that I've introduced to survival games) tend to feel the need for goals or something, not just mindless droning. If that makes sense.
