I’ve really fallen for the new3DS, I admit, although Nintendo has been crushing me with their various policies and sales practices. Since I got the n3ds it’s been pretty terrific playing games portably again in hand like I used to back in the day with Game Boy Advance. There are tons of games and the caliber of them is vastly superior to what I used to play long ago. I guess I didn’t know what I was missing out on being mainly a PCer with just a Wii U on the side. I just didn’t know why my 3ds unit had such a nice screen on the bottom and not the same on the top, which kinda started this craziness for me. Once I knew about the different screens, I was more than miffed, as I had been already with Nintendo. However, I still love Nintendo, and sadly continue to support them and don’t want them to die out anytime soon. But the more I have heard about the Switch, the less I think it’s really for me, and I’d much rather have my ideal n3ds than the Switch right now, which I can always buy again at some later point if I want to.
As an artist I’ve always been a very high-contrast person, in visual terms. I also take my movies pretty seriously and will buy nothing but Blu-Ray, and insist on having my current HDTV perfectly calibrated…because I’m visually picky like that. My husband wants to buy a larger TV but it’s such a hassle getting it “just right” to look as sweet as it does I’m against it, lol. That is why the n3DS screens stood out to me…because I got a hybrid unit. Had I gotten a dual IPS or a dual TN I probably wouldn’t be in this crazy mess but now that I have seen the difference looking at actual display models in store, I can’t unsee it.
I imagine that moving forward Nintendo will not sell new 3DS models with IPS screens because they cost more to produce, and clearly they are all about squeezing for every single little red cent they can (why no charger included Nintendo!!!). In fact I wonder if the Pikachu units will all be dual TNs or not, so that will be interesting to see and find out. I just want what I want I guess, and willing to pay a premium for it…but dang, not like money that could go towards buying an ultra hot new graphics card for the PC or an XBone or PS4 price tag, come on.
This was my jam the last time I had a game Boy:
Ahh memories of hearing that soundtrack again! I wonder if I can find this on the estore? Also, was watching someone play through Pokemon Yellow from the olden days…um, it was color though. Wasn’t it all black and white in the past?
Wow a lot of the music and such is the same as in Sun and Moon, or visa versa rather. It’s amazing.
