high cores and threads?
That’s the unstoppable industry trend, everyone has to work to make the best use of it. It’s more complicated, harder to do well, but it’s the way forward.
I think if the main purpose of your computer is to run software you wrote on it yourself, then by all means consider the advantages of AMD processors. But my home computer is for me to run other people’s software. In my subjective, biased, anecdotal experience, I’ve worked at maybe 7 or 8 studios, but to my knowledge I’ve never worked on an AMD CPU. So I imagine lots of other developers developing on Intel and basically just hoping it works ok on AMD.
