I feel somewhere the conversation has got confused. What I’m saying is that the whole “Meta” thing doesn’t matter unless it actually matters to your skill level.
For most people it doesn’t matter, in fact the opposite matters. For most people they reside in the Bronze to low Gold tiers and at that level guess what… no-one can genji for shit, and their tracer play is merely average rather than the good that it needs to be. These meta characters are taken because they’re supposedly great, borderline OP, but people lack the experience and skill to actually reach their potential, they are a wasted pick.
Because these “meta” characters are actually also harder to play well and right, characters like Orisa are actually just fine for most people.
I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again… part of being a “good” player of a game means accepting that your variety and your options are limited. There will always be an optimal pick, some characters will always be weak, at a high level. Meanwhile, at lower levels that ceases to be the case because the universal truth that is good team work can’t be relied on at the lower levels… and it is that team work and communication that makes the difference to most skill levels, more than character picks, because it is communication and team work that is the primary variable.
I don’t care if people pick Orisa, or Widowmaker, or Hanzo, as long as they are a) competent at them and b) work with the team, especially by combining ults and watching each other’s backs. In high silver to low gold it is teamwork that is the meta, regardless of character picks.
