I'm not sure I understand your question. Games aren't easy to balance, and I never said it's like it just came out, but the game is poorly balanced.
OK, well you're making an assumption. And it's wrong. Sure, I accept there are silver-bound people blaming everything they can but themselves on losing. But saying people in Top500, Grandmaster, Master, Diamond and even Platinum haven't tried anything else is just ignorance at this point.
I'm sure it comes from both, but more from the balance. Their aren't any consistent counters to diving at the moment. Wipe out a Mei, Rat or Hog all you want but the game doesn't exactly work that way.
Of course. But there are heroes in the game that can do as much (or even more) than some defence heroes without needing a buff to do it.
It is. Because it means they are only useful in some places. I was watching a pro game where Mei was used devastatingly when attacking Route 66. Knowing the enemies would push the tunnels, the Mei walled 2 of them in and the team slaughtered them. However, as soon as they got the first checkpoint, Mei swapped off knowing that in the open area where the enemy can occupy high ground, she's 100% useless.
She pretty much does. If you aren't freezing then you'd be better playing a DPS hero. You aren't even talking advantage of what's good and unique about you. Her wall is so easy to maneuver around in most places (thus situational). Her alt fire is good, but if the wall is useless and you aren't freezing, then her icicles alone aren't worth picking her for.
This is an incredibly toxic playstyle that you only employ when losing to a better team. Resorting to this is accepting that you lack the mechanical and technical skills required to take it back by force, so you stall for as long as you can and pray that either; you do it for long enough for someone on your team to get a clutch Ult or you just burn off as much time as possible so they have less time to work with if it goes to overtime rounds. Pretty pathetic to say the least. But still, it's not worth picking her at the start of a round for. If you plan on doing that, you only pick her when the time comes.
But yeah. Mercy's Ult is hilariously easy to use for how much of an impact it has, Dive comp has no consistent counters. Bastion and Orisa are almost never worth picking. Symmetra's beam lock maintain range and angle is bloody ridiculous. They nerfed Ana and Hog when they were helping reduce the power of current perceived problems. Everyone is now complaining about PharMercy and Dive when Ana and Hog eased those problems.
Now, it has been getting better. McCree and Reaper Ults are no longer "press Q to respawn". Winston and Hog can no longer reliably 1v1 the Tank killer and live. Things are looking up, but there's a long way to go. Hopefully this upcoming Rein and Zarya buffs will help.
