Overload - Descent by another name

I havent seen this on the forums here yet, but I figure people here might appreciate the subject.

If you played Descent, Descent 2, Freespace, Descent 3 back in the day - those fun, vertigo-filled 6-Degrees-Of-Freedom games - you should probably take a look at Overload. Despite not having the Descent name it’s done by the same devs who made it, and it really shows. They’ve got a free playable teaser demo on Steam right now, too - so feel free to give that a try.

Point is, it’s being Kickstarter’d and in its last few hours now - close to goal, but every bit helps. They’re doing a livestream as well, so I’ll include that in the linkspam below. If you’re looking for something different or remember the old-school games, take a look! I’m excited for this one, and have fingers crossed they make their goal.

Edit: Pictures below. Also, looks like the Kickstarter is going to succeed! ~2 hours left if you want to get in on that and get a digital copy at the lower backer price

Hmm neverheard of the game. I’ll check it when I’m on the computer

The 6DOF games are kinda like zero-gravity shooters where you can rotate and move/slide in all directions, and enemies or doors or anything can be on all sides of you. Vertigo is a thing, but it’s a lot of fun.

Here are a few pictures:

The “Blades” bot charging at me in a room.

… I blew him up! Bot explosions are fairly spectacular.

Nice view in the level. Go down from the rough-walled cave into the mechanized area, or go straight to either side - or forward. Or up.

The reactor. You want to blow this thing up to beat the level, but doing so starts a countdown where you escape or die…

Find this before you need it, or you’ll be scrambling as time counts down.

Last picture of the demo’s challenge mode - lots of dead bot debris as another one charges. Really elegant levels - you can go up, down, ahead, or back in this location.

Wow! This really looks like an amazing game!
