I don’t think it’s best picture personally. It’s visually stunning. It’s a ‘good’ movie, but there were much better movies.
I think they should make a fourth one to show the complete takeover of the apes that leads into the 1968 movie.
I’m biased toward giant monster movies, so I’d end up trying to nominate Kong or Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters. But if I don’t count those movies, I think WW, The Last Jedi, Logan, or War for the Planet of Apes deserves the award. I also enjoyed Alien: Covenant, Fate of the Furious, Bright, Justice League, and Transformers: The Last Knight, but I didn’t think those were Oscar-worthy.
The soundtrack award is REALLY hard for me though. I loved the soundtracks for Kong, Logan, WW, Transformers, The Last Jedi, Apes, Justice League, Godzilla, and Alien. To pick just one is nearly impossible.
I would vote for Logan. It was just a pretty solid flick.
I still can’t believe Boss Baby got nominated for best animated film

I don’t really watch movies, so I don’t know any of these. Except Dunkirk.
