Guide Update: 8/18 - Switching Between Legacy and Stage 2 without Redownloading Every Time!

#22

Solution to what?

#23

Works perfectly for me!
Although going from legacy to Stage 2 requires to redownload 1gb. Not really an issue to me since I have fast internet but its worth mentioning for those with slower ones

#24

How are the custom games on Legacy? Do they work as they used to?

#25

yes

@Manuel_Martin
not sure what you’ve done different but I can switch without any download required so it may depend on the the individual if they have to download any more data when switching.

#26

I followed this guide step by step, downloaded the 40 gbs of legacy evolve and it doesn’t start
:frowning:
I go to local files and there are 2 folders, EvolveGame and EvolveGame_legacy, however none of the 2 folders has a launcher!! I can’t start the game anyway!
T_T
Please, anyone knows how to help me!?!!

#27

I was able to get both versions working after many attempts, however this guide is outdated. The Stage 2 acf in this current guide doesn’t match the current Stage 2 acf. I could not get this to work following this guide in it’s current status. If anyone can though let me know.

#28

How did you do it?

#29

Set it up for Legacy Evolve, then verify integrity of game files. Worked for me at least.

#30

Sorry I have been gone so long, I see a few of you have figured it out or found something that worked.
Sadly I do not have the bandwidth to do a full-on test/rewrite of the guide anymore. However much talk of .acf files. All this ever did was tell the game to install legacy into a folder called “EvolveGame_legacy”, so it would have it own home intact away from stage 2 in the “EvolveGame” folder.

Below is a mini-guide and some watch-outs! if you use my .acf files, read it all before using. You “may” have prep-work if you have legacy installed default by steam.

Just ran both evolve versions and it should have updated my acf files:

Up to date as the time of this post. I noticed dedicated servers are going down Sept 9th?.. :crying_cat_face:

fingers crossed I used the right forum block thing to paste the file correctly
I’m not on message boards much these days.

In my “G:\Games\SteamLibrary\steamapps” folder I have these two files in this folder under these names:

appmanifest_273350.acf.LEGACY
appmanifest_273350.acf.STAGE2

I remove the .PART if I want to play that version of the game and reopen steam. When done, I add the correct .PART back or just add it back next I switch.

If you are eligible for legacy you may be able to just use the .acf for legacy and then either run or verify integrity of the files, the long download should commence.

If you currently have legacy installed and loaded by default in steam without modifying your .acf, i suggest going to:
“G:\Games\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common” and renaming your “EvolveGame” to “EvolveGame_legacy”
Then use the .acf file provided.

MIne after finishing download of the Legacy version started downloading again…:sob:

But i don’t think we will need it anymore.
