After some research, I came across something interesting.
I am gonna quote someone’s comment for the long and short.
"West and Zampella joined 2015, Inc after Spielberg signed on to write the story for Medal of Honor: Allied Assault – mind you, this started just 2 years after Saving Private Ryan made half a billion at the box office. AA is a resounding success, critically and commercially, changing the landscape of military shooters and the direction of the MOH franchise.
West and Zampella effectively gut 2015, taking 20 other developers from the studio so they could lead their own – Infinity Ward. 2015 would go on to make the largely mediocre Men of Valor before fading into obscurity, with IW effectively being built on its corpse. IW makes the first Call of Duty on id Tech 3 (the same engine AA was built in) while MOH wanes in popularity. Activision paid to form the studio, and in exchange they own the IP. Pretty standard agreement for those without the capital to fund their own AAA development team.
You’ve heard both sides of West and Zampella firing. ActiBlizz alleges they breached contract to begin laying the groundwork for a new partnership with EA which… well yea that’s exactly what they did after they were fired. Respawn is created, with 46 employees poached from IW. They now had the money to form an independent studio and own their IP. To “control their fates”…"
According to this, if something happens to Respawn, it will be the 3rd time W and Z jump ship. It’s also weird because EA was their stomping grounds. This is a curious vicious cycle . . .
