Yeah, I was just fucking with you earlier. Those bitches are annoying as hell, even more so on a first playthrough.
Just wait, there's a optional area a bit later on (in which you can get a ring, an armour set and a invasion convenant), where you have to fight 2 of those fuckers at the same time, unless you confine yourself to a small area, and use a bow to lure them in.
If you want help at beating them, they are very weak to both bleed and fire. Also, it's best to keep focusing their heads, but if possible, try to hit them in the 'bellyjaw'. Both of those spots can trigger a critical attack.
Fun fact: if you don't attack them after a critical attack (when they fall on their back and start flailing around), they won't be hostile. They'll keep flailing for a bit, and then start 'praying'. Attacking them in that state will make them hostile again.
