Just don't overplan it, cause you can't. Tabletop Roleplaying Games are like improv theater. Depending on the day and what the "moral direction" of the team is... basically when people play and characters make decisions it's to affirm something... It's like a movie without a script.
The most fun games are the ones that affirm something or little things along the way.
Such as: "Well that's the last time we set the woods on fire!"
It also helps to give everyone their little spot light once in a while.
Soon after the forest fire fiasco, this band had to settle with the Lord of the nearby town. But the team member they sent soon discovered this Lord's wife was unhappy... and one thing led to another.... and some kisses were exchanged... and.... more trouble as a result.
