I can't say I'm not surprised by this decision to go F2P, but I guess it was either this or watching it die. This way people have nothing to lose when trying the game, and the playerbase will increase (because the game is really that good).
Again, I only hope that this doesn't change the game experience for me. I have a lot of good memories about this game, following it since its early days, telling everybody about it, buying the most complete version I could find, following each and every update and challenge weekend to date, etc.
I mostly play it alone, I'm not good enough to play it online and have a good time. So at least I hope this doesn't change enough that I don't enjoy it.
But to Chris and the rest of the developers, I have to say I congratulate them for working hard to keep their creation alive, to make the best of their awesome game, which was sadly shot down by things other than its content. That must have been very frustrating and neither the hardworking people behind the game nor the game itself deserve it.
So I raise my glass to newness, to a new beginning. Change is being alive, and being alive is to Evolve.
